R. Chris Prentiss, PT, Cert. MDT
Since 1990, Chris has been in practice as a Physical Therapist specializing in Spine and Orthopedic care, with a continuing education background and emphasis on Mechanical and Manual Physical Therapy. Chris is dedicated to providing quality care in the treatment of pain and dysfunction caused by Spine and Sports injuries. He believes that as a compliment to a thorough evaluation, it is the individualized treatment provided that makes the difference in results.
Chris is one of the first certified McKenzie practitioners on Long Island. He utilizes his wealth of training in this proven diagnostic method to help identify those who would benefit from Physical Therapy and those who would not, thus saving time and the performance of unnecessary procedures. Knowledge of the McKenzie Method also allows Chris to enable patients to become active participants in their care. As a result, he maximizes each patients potential benefit during their course of treatment.
Chris has lectured on the Management of Spinal Disorders to Physicians, Physical Therapists and the public. He expands his knowledge base through professional affiliations in an effort to continually enhance his skills.
Chris received his Physical Therapy degree from SUNY Stony Brook. He is certified in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy by the McKenzie Institute. He earned a Board Certification as an Orthopedic Specialist through the American Physical Therapy Association as well as being designated as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
James Gucciardo, P.T., D.P.T.
Since 2020 James has been in practice as a Physical Therapist specializing in Orthopedic and spine care.
James received his under graduate bachelor’s of health science degree from the New York Institute of Technology in 2016. James then went on to earn his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from SUNY Stony Brook in 2020. He is now in the process of studying for and pursuing his Certificate in the McKenzie Institute’s Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy program.
Since graduating, James has gained clinical experience in orthopedics specializing in administering hands on manual techniques, prescribing therapeutic exercise, and evaluating patients orthopedic and neurologic deficits.
James has experience working with large demographics including orthopedics, geriatrics, pediatrics, post operative surgery as well as dysfunctions in gait and balance, return to sports and general health and fitness.
James is committed to collaborating with his patients to restore function and achieve their goals to return to their active pain free lifestyle.
